Intelligent, socially conscious acoustic pop on third release from Sheffield-based singer-songwriter, Pete Green
Review
'The Platform Zero' EP is the third release from Sheffield-based singer-songwriter, Pete Green.
'I'm Gonna Stay with Her' has loud acoustic guitar and tambourine, while Pete's vocal is fairly twee in tone. His lyrics are very sharp and full of observations. He is also a good solid guitar player, who comes on like a one man band Tompaulin.
'Happy Being Me' is classy singer/songwriter material, very story based with Pete talking on it about the Smiths, the Cure, watching football, and the benefits of bisexuality.
The upbeat-in-tone 'Best British Band Supported by Shockwaves' is an anti-'NME' song. Good on him for attacking what was a bible to most of us, and now is a teenage comic. 'Let It Go By' is his football song, which is happy and cheerful.
A good solid songwriter with his fingers on subjects that really matter in life.
