Anthemic and upbeat new single from former Million Dead front man Frank Turner, the latest from his second solo album, '‘Love Ire & Song’
Review
This new single from former Million Dead front man Frank Turner reveals what an absolute treat his second solo album, ‘Love Ire & Song’, is.
I put this on and within 30 seconds all I could think was "I love Frank Turner." Upbeat, to the point and telling it like it is – "Just picture her after she’s had kids/I bet she sits at home and listens to the Smiths"- he manages to pull off many things that have been done a million times before in a good way. He has so much charm and his songs carry his charisma so well that you can here this being played in beer gardens all over Britain and through the breaks in the rain this summer.
Not quite as stripped down as his first solo offerings this time around there is a full band backing him, but the song has been written in such a way that this could easily translated into just Frank and his acoustic guitar.
Sing-a-long from the first listen this is poppy folk at it’s very best. The basic idea of the song is for everyone to cheer the hell up, and upon hearing this I challenge anyone not to. This is an anthem for people not to take themselves too seriously and just get the hell on with it, a brilliant ode to not growing up to fast and reminding yourself of all the good things in your life rather than just dwelling on the bad points.
I’m off to the pub as result. Thank you, Frank Turner, I elect you spokesmen for the mid 20’s.
