Helen Boulding - Breathe

Label: Made in Sheffield Records
Format: CDS
Accomplished, but familiar-sounding piano driven pop on new single from Sheffield-based singer-songwriter Helen Boulding

Review

Sheffield songstress Helen Boulding is prepping the crowd for an upcoming EP with the release of a single ‘Breathe'. It’s an accomplished tune, but treads a well-hewn path. A piano leads the song into some mainstream pop and hazy vocals that inch slightly in the direction of Mazzy Star before efflorescing into a more showy production. Boulding has a nice voice which the engineers have buffed to a fine sheen. With a lush musical background and lyrics dedicated to personal empowerment it’s undoubtedly ready for major radio play.
