Arthur Lee - Stay Away/You I'll Be Following

Label: Norton
Format: 7"
Excellent 7' single which consists of two early unissued 1965 recordings from Love front man Arthur Lee, whio died in August of last year

Review

This 7" single which consists of two early unissued recordings was released by the Arthur Love appreciation website www.thelovesociety.com, and all the profits from it will be given to the family of the Love frontman who died in August of last year. 'Stay Away', the A side, which was recorded with the American Four, sounds very much of its time and like a demo. It is exactly how you would expect it to sound, mixing together hip beats with garage guitars which recall sunny Southern Californian beaches. Its B side, 'You I'll Be Following', which was recorded with the Grass Roots and then eventually re-recorded by Love, is a classic. It sounds very much like the finished version and a lot like the Byrds. A complete history of these tracks is told on the sleeve notes by original Love co-founder, Johnny Echols, who is currently finishing off a lost Love album.

Love Jumped Through My Window/Sad Song (2009)
Expensive, but excellent vinyl only single from Arthur Lee, which consists of two long lost acoustic demos from 1971 that have been recently found in the vaults at Columbia Records
