These Arms Are Snakes - Easter

Label: Select Label
Format: CD
Deranged, confusing second album from Seattle hardcore rockers, These Arms are Snakes

Review

These Arms are Snakes are weird, really really weird, but in a kind of good way. Their music is "out there" enough to be potentially exciting, if a little odd. 'Easter' is an accomplished album, full of the workings of a fantastic band albeit one with a deranged mind. I find it hard to draw comparisons other than with bands that sound nothing like These Arms are Snakes but which hold the same values... Since by Man seems to strike a chord but at the same time it's nowhere near. I find it difficult listening to this album as well from beginning to end, as despite its little intricacies and some enjoyable moments, I find myself becoming bored. There are no real shining moments that have sprung to my attention but by no means does this make it poor ! Perhaps just a little misunderstood! Utterly confusing !

These Arms Are Snakes - Joiners, Southampton, 14/4/2007
At a prog rock night at the Southampton Joiners, Paul Raven finds that the movement has thankfully moved a long way on from the overblown concept albums of the late 70's, and much to recommend from several acts on the bill including Americans These Arms Are Snakes and instrumental act Pelican

Ultimately rewarding, but unfortunately heavily over produced debut album from These Arms are Snakes, the latest signing to the Jade Tree label
