Leeds/Bradford-based band This Et Al recently played a homecoming gig of sorts at Joseph's Well in Leeds. Helen Tipping, however, finds their music drowned out by the venue's muddy sound system

Article

I’m not keen on Joseph’s Well as a venue. It’s always too hot and the sound is generally terrible. Tonight was no exception, making it hard to review This Et Al. They may have been brilliant – but I couldn’t tell. It seemed that their singer, who calls himself simply Wu, kept shouting, although I know he can sing because I’ve listened to their recordings on MySpace which are pretty good. The music sounded as though it may have been great, but only Ben Holden's guitar managed to shine through the muddied sounds produced by the venue PA. This Et Al are an indie band, who write well crafted songs, and are worth a listen if you like bands like !Forward Russia! or slightly heavier indie. I would advise people to have a listen to them online. If you like what you hear go and see them, just not at Joseph’s Well.
