Completely unoriginal, but thoroughly enjoyable Stooges-inspired rock from British-based garage punks the Mutts
Review
All right, between the Little Killers' excellent CD, the Exploders' excellent CD and now the Mutts' top-notch mini-album I’m afraid that the record-purchasing public is at risk of becoming jaded.
Stooges fanciers are in particular warned that ,after getting a load of Chris Murtagh’s muscular croon or bassist Sam Burgess’s strutting lines, they may not feel the need to get out of the house for days on end.
The condensed version of my review for their last CD 'Life In Dirt' goes “Stooges ... Australia ... rhythm section ... Damned ... Psyclone Rangers.” Nothing’s changed that way, though I’d say there’s a bit of Danzig (or Ian Astbury - your call) in Murtagh’s vocal take on 'Gutter Glory'.
'I Us We You' is nothing new – it’s just another massive slab of rock’n’roll that doesn’t want the 1970s to end – nor should it !
