Energetic, heartfelt old school punk on second album from the Toronto-based Sinkin' Ships, who draw comparision with the likes of Social Distortion, Tsunami Bomb and the Exploited
Review
The Sinkin’ Ships have a great live sounding energy, that grabs your attention right from the first note of 'Broken Hearts Are Blue', the first track on their second album 'All Signs are Wrong'. There is no messing around here. The Sinkin’ Ships who hail from Toronto, Canada come straight at you, and you're instantly transported to a noisy, packed club in which you are sweaty and bouncing along to the music. They have a real old school punk sound to them, but sound much better produced and are comparable to the likes of Social Distortion, Tsunami Bomb and the Exploited.
The band, who are fronted by Naomi Allan, show no signs of slowing down at any point on the album with highlights on the album coming in the form of 'Tits on Toast', 'Breakdown' and "See Sharp". The Irish influenced 'Garbage Island', however, shows another side to the band and has a real folk-punk feel to it., but, while almost acoustic, it does not slow the album's tempo down at all.
There’s no question that the Sinkin’ Ships would be amazing live, combining the energy, heart and good tunes that are all essential to a good punk rock band and they rock with the best of them.
