Cribs - Mirror Kissers

Label: Wichita
Format: CDS
Abysmal retro new wave from the much-acclaimed the Cribs

Review

The bulk of retro new wave music really gets on my nerves, and the lead track 'Mirror Kissers', on repeated spins, still sounds abysmal. One strong point though, the Cribs sound rather like Mud or Slade than like Stiff Little Fingers. Which they will do when the cold sets in. 'Modern Way', the 'B-side' exclusive, may be something to go for; terribly retro new wavish a second time at the start but hold on, after 85 seconds, all pieces fall into one! The latter part of 'Modern Way' actually sounds like magic. Produced by Edwyn Collins?! Not much of a recommendation, dare I say?

Track Listing:-

1 Mirror Kissers
2 Modern Way
3 Direction (Live In Hamburg)
