Tripp and gorgeous first full release of former Slowdive drummer Simon Scott's new band Televise
Review
Televise deserve to be playing to more people than their current audiences.
This is the first full release of former Slowdive drummer Simon Scott's new band for Club AC30 records, and follows on from a track which they contributed to a three track compilation for the same label.
'Outside Outt' finds Simon's vocal wrapped around honey, sounding trippy and gorgeous, and too much for mere words. This is quite possibly the best song Slowdive never recorded. The instruments are all very heavy and you get lost in the soundscape that is Televise's world. Strong bass lines fight with shimmering guitars on this and the other tracks. They remind me of greatness we don't have anymore, and bands like Ride and even Pale Saints as well as Slowdive, but Televise, however, add their own magic on top and make it sound fresh.
'Let Me Go Down' is slower and more haunting, and a bit like a doomy Cure with its nervous vocal. 'If I Told You' is more jangly in approach with powerful drums, and bass grooves. As it moves forward it gets heavier and more trippy. The vocals have you nodding your head in no time whatsoever, while the fade out extends the song beautifully.
Great stuff indeed !
