Review

Clambake is a blues-influenced guitar-and-drums British duo – a loud one. Don’t think the White Stripes – this gruesome twosome likes noise the same way Modey Lemon and the Immortal Lee County Killers do. Precision is not on the menu, but you do get buckets of reverb and some fairly conversational singing stuck down in the mix. 'Gator' is a short album, 10 songs in a little over 20 minutes (including the sound of stuff breaking). Ramshackle groove, cough syrup vocals and bad ass guitar twang … what’s not to like?
