Snappily packaged, but disappointingly rough-edged new 7" single from much acclaimed Fat Cat signing Party of One
Review
Ooh, white vinyl ! It's like the 70's again. Well I guess it is ! Having only been born in '83, I have no information to base this on, but still it's nice to see some music on the coolest of all formats!
I had been told to listen to Party of One by Pennyblack photographer Matt Williams, so when I saw the name on the promos list I had to get it and I have to say I’m a little disappointed.
I was aware that it was going to be on the rougher end of the production spectrum and to me this isn’t a problem when the songs are good, but there just isn’t either here. No offence to Eric Fifteen the writer of the songs, but it sounds to me like a 15 year old's first attempt at music in his bedroom with a tape machine.
The thing is I have friends who listen to this for this exact quality and I understand that music such as this isn’t meant for the mainstream. I just never seem to understand how music like this can get a pressing and promotion!
Ah well...
I will finish with this. If you like this kind of music and you understand where its coming from, then you will love this, but it ain't my cup of tea.
Cool vinyl though !
