Excellent post rock compilation on the Ochre label which features exclusive tracks from Longstone, the Land of Nod, Lakescene, 90 Degrees South and Stylus
Review
'Seasons' is graced with a very twee style cover, but in fact there is nothing twee about it all.
It features all newly composed material by 5 different bands on the Ochre label, which are meant to represent the 4 seasons of the year. It is a fine post rock, but, as a record about seasons, it is not convincing at all. The only season that possibly comes to mind is bleak midwinter.
Longstone's 4 tracks sound like the soundtrack to Tobe Hooper's 1974 film 'The Texas Chainsaw Massacre'. The other bands on 'Seasons' are the Land of Nod, Anthony from the Land of Nod's spin off group Lakescene, 90 Degrees South and Stylus.
10 minutes after it finishes you hear a sample of Terry Jack's 'Seasons in the Sun', but it's more a case of 'Seasons in the Post Rock Land', which altogether isn't a bad place to be at all.
