Longstone - Archive: 03

Label: Ochre
Format: CD
2 hours+ double CD, which "highlights the weird and wonderful electronica world" of UK post-rock duo, Longstone

Review

This 2 CD set lasts for 2 hours and 13 minutes and highlights the weird and wonderful electronica world of duo Mike Ward and Mike Cross. 'Archive' has 20 tracks on it ,most of which are making their appearance on CD for the first time. It is hard work on the whole and you have to be a fan really. I have seen the band many a time and like them. This compilation brings together all their non-Ochre vinyl singles, their Ochre 7" Editions which have never been released before on CD, some compilation only tracks and 5 previously unreleased tracks. These tracks vary from repetitive dance numbers to analog tracks to some plain old weirdness, which would not be out of place on an 'Alien' soundtrack. It is very eerie on the whole. The dance tracks are, however, great. 'Archive' is thoroughly enjoyable, but you have to really like electronica to get the most out of it.
