Great new wave party record from the unfortunately ridiculously over hyped Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Review
Last year, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs started making a name for themselves with their self-titled debut EP, and showed themselves to be very good at producing surprisingly danceable fuzzy nuggets of new-wave.
Just as you think, however, you've found the perfect arty-party music, along comes a popular and extremely irritating music magazine to ruin everything. The Yeah Yeah Yeahs are appearing on the cover of the NME constantly now, and have thereby sealed their fate: By about mid-July, you'll be so sick of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, just like you were sick of the Vines last year.
It's a shame really, because the Yeah Yeah Yeahs are quite good. Take 'Date With the Night', for example. It's quite catchy, easy to dance to, and it's got some nice guitar in it. Okay, so it's nowhere near as good as the underground music currently being produced in Europe and America at the moment (check out Johnson Family records' two Minutemen compilation for some prime examples), but it's a great record to put on at parties, and we all need a bit music like that every now and again.
