Barely eleven minutes of airy pop, the 'Emmanuelle Béart EP' will keep you entertained between entrée and dessert if you are picnicking (on a summer’s afternoon, of course) in the garden of a minor nobleman’s country estate. Should you find yourself bereft of entertainment in any other situation, different music may be advisable. While the title track is an admirably lilting take on the “wishing I was pretty” genre, and 'Everybody Wants My Baby' has a moment or two of suitable melancholy (“they call it love, but it’s only lust/there ain’t nobody you can trust”) the overall effect is unprepossessing. Like an éclair, sugary, insubstantial, and intended more as an occasional treat than as staple of one's diet.
