Woohoo! This latest offering from Boston’s finest will get you up and dancing in no time at all. Their blend of Ska, Punk, Hardcore and Metal, also known as ska-core, is extremely uplifting...You can’t help but smile. The horn section have a tendency to blast out irritatingly catchy riffs that you’ll be whistling all day long. The combination of this, and varied guitar lines and ‘singalong’ lyrics make this record really enjoyable. Although all sixteen tracks are happy and upbeat, a variety of moods are created through the the lyrics, 'Devil’s Nite Out' has the band partying with the devil, while 'Howwhywuz Howwhyyam' finds singer Dicky Barrett mourning for the loss of a father. Stand out tracks include 'Where’d You Go', the foresaid 'Devil’s Nite Out' and 'Patricia', not to mention the, shall we say, interesting cover versions of Metallica’s 'Enter Sandman' and Aerosmith’s 'Sweet Emotion.' 'Awfully Quiet' is effectively ‘The best of The Mighty Mighty Bosstones’ part one. This compilation features tracks from their earlier recordings 'Devils Night Out', 'More Noise And Other Disturbances' and the 'Where'd You Go' EP when they were with independent label taang! before joining the major label Mercury in 1993.
