There are no fashionable designs or pretensions here . Thank God ! Despite that, several in-crowd suspects , including Alan Vega and The Revolutionary Corps of Teenage Jesus, feature here.
Assuming these are indeed lullabies, electronic sleep is both nightmare-like and also sweet. "Fuck Off #2" by Mongoose deserves a 12" release, being simply one of the year's highlights. Alan Vega offers a disorientating ditty while Davey Henderson comes in two guises. The first with The Nectarine No. 9 has an almost folky workout on the keyboards, proving that Looper owe him quite a lot . The other is the more familiar side to Davey, and has The Revolutionary Corps of Teenage Jesus purveying sounds from the echo chamber. Surprisingly it has him getting back to the energy filled daze of The Fire Engines and his more recent work with Alan Vega, and rattlles along with drum and bass effects. It is, however, relative newcomers Mongoose and Element who shine silently whereas a lot of other boring but stylishly produced techno on other labels meanwhile just craps in the spotlight. Creeping Bent deserve a place in the sun.
