If the prospect of winter and the long dark nights is getting you down fear not. Here come California’s GospelbeacH with a timely blast of surf, sand and sun with a follow-up to the brilliant 'Another Summer of Love'. This latest offering from leader Brent Rademaker and the band consists of five unreleased tracks and five tracks cut live in London. Opening with an easygoing slice of surf rock (written by friend and former band member Neal Casal) 'Freeway to the Canyon' is an absolute delight with its jangly guitars, hammond organ and lovely harmonies. What is not to like? The five unreleased tracks sit happily in a cosmic country americana groove that is just delightful and heartwarming. Bar room honkeytonk piano sits alongside some gorgeous pedal steel on 'Down South' while 'Running Blind' is a crowd pleasing rock and roller with a psychedelic edge. Great stuff! Side two or the last five songs were recorded live in London last summer. These intimate recordings are stripped down versions of songs from the debut album 'Pacific Surf Line' and last year's brilliant 'Another Summer of Love'. Listening to the live cuts you feel like you have gatecrashed a GospelbeacH pool party. Lots of fun and laughter and totally enjoyable. Shafts of sunlight for the cold winter days!
