Hunter and the Bear - Forest on the Hill

Label: Dog Monday
Format: CDS
Promising debut single from harmonic London-based folk trio, Hunter and The Bear

Review

Hunter & The Bear hail from Scotland and Huddersfield. Having formed just last year, they are now based in London and are currently working on their debut EP. The first single to be released from the EP is ‘Forest on the Hill’. It is a folk influenced song reminiscent of Mumford & Sons and Of Monsters and Men. Acoustic, up-tempo guitars open the track before the gravelly voice of lead singer Will Irvine kicks in; though it is the cleverly layered vocal harmonies of the trio that make ‘Forest on the Hill’ an appealing listen. If you’re not a fan of the folk-led pop music that has dominated recently, then it’s unlikely this band will tick the right boxes for you, but if you are I would, however, definitely recommend giving these guys are listen. Having already played at Hard Rock Calling this summer alongside big name acts such as Bruce Springsteen and Kasabian, it is likely we will be seeing much more of Hunter & The Bear.
