Melt Yourself Down - Fix My Life

Label: Melt Yourself Down
Format: 12"
Fascinating combination of jazz, soul and blues on 12 inch vinyl single from Arabian-influenced but London-based sextet, Melt Yourself Down

Review

The next heroes in cosmopolitan exhuberance may well be Melt Yourself Down from London Town. Disclosing the secrets of Bagdad, Addis Abeba, Kabul and similar cities which embraced freeform jazz and soul music aeons before in the 1950s Uncle Sam became a nasty character, this sextet rotates around a most ingenious roundabout. Swirling through jazz, soul and blues, this fancy brew falls somewhere between Rip, Rig & Panic's lesser recordings and the mighty recordings from Ethiopians Astatkè and Ahmoud. You can't really grasp that this bunch is from London. It's very much how the East-Africa to Somerset connection would actually sound. 'We Are Enough' brings back to life Bristol's Pigbag. Melt Yourself Down present themselves as worthwhile contemporaries with this zany funk.
