Marie Hazelwood photographs Edmonton-based electronic duo Purity Ring at a gig at the Kazimier in Liverpool
Article
Purity Ring are an electronic duo from Canada. While the group’s two members Megan James (vocals) and Corin Roddick (instrumentals) were both brought up in Edmonton, Alberta, they first met and formed Purity Ring in Montreal in 2010 when they both were playing in another larger group, Gobble Gobble.
During live shows, Roddick uses a custom-built, tree-shaped instrument to create both the live sound and lighting, while on stage they both wear clothes custom designed and made by James.
Purity Ring released their acclaimed debut album, ‘Shrines’, through 4AD last July. These photographs were taken by Marie Hazelwood at the Kazimier at the Liverpool date of a month-long British and European tour on the 28th November last year.
