Enjoyable and diverse debut album from Japanese shoegaze/indie pop group, Taffy.
Review
Taffy have a Welsh name but are actually a Japanese shoegaze/indie pop band.
'Between' starts off their debut album, 'Caramel Sunset'. It begins sounding like attitude-filled early Oasis, but with more of a nugaze edge to it, while singer Iris's vocals recall the glory days of early Brit pop.
'Candy Lane' is a 60's influenced shoegaze number. Iris's vocals on it are again crystal-voiced but sound this time like those of Louise Wener from Sleeper at their most commercial.
'HaaH' is rocky, melodic and My Bloody Valentine-influenced. '3' is a thrashy big pop number in the style of style of Tender Trap or early Echobelly.
'Indetermination' is slow and more reflective with a late night glow to it, while 'Canary' is another fast and furious pop number.
'He Was' is grunge-influenced track which is trying to be like Hole. Flower Chain' is faster and is a bouncing up-and-down indie classic.
'M23-7-8', is a reflective number and sung in a pleasant enough manner.
An enjoyable first album.
