Fresh from delivering their second album, 'In Love with Oblivion', comes this follow-up EP from Crystal Stilts. I'm still not convinced by this New York based band at all. I think that guitarist JB Townsend is a genius but vocalist Brad Hargett seems to be shy and could be more commanding. But maybe again I just don't get it. 'Dark Eyes' opens with a slow beat. It is a psychedelic number while Brad's vocals vocals have echo on them and remind me of Mark Mulcahy's singing in the early Miracle Legion. The title track sounds like a fast Strokes and has added Shadows-style twang. 'Still As the Night' is a Lee Hazlewood number and the band do it justice, while 'Low Profile' is slow-paced, with psychedelic organ and hushed vocals. 'Frost Inside the Asylum' ends the EP and sounds like a slowed down Velvet Underground fronted by Ian Curtis.
