Die So Fluid are a band I have heard a lot about, but rarely listened to, so I was naturally pleased to find their latest album. 'The World ss Too Big for One Lifetime is the third album in the London band’s ten-year career, and their experience shows in the quality that is on display here. The album melodically opens with a beautiful instrumental piece, where you are lulled into a false sense of security, whereupon lead vocalist Grog drops her sonic bombshell. At this point you realise Die So Fluid are something rather special. A lot of the appeal behind Die So Fluid’s album 'The World is Too Big for One Lifetime' is from the power and emotion of Grog’s voice. She can deliver so much emotion that you genuinely believe she has been there before and has the scars to prove it. Grog is ably supported by an excellent band that acts as a foundation without overwhelming her singing and leaves you wanting more. If there is one shortfall in 'The World is Too Big for One Lifetime, it is that the tracks are too similar, and none really standout. This is not a genuine criticism; rather it is due to the constant quality and tone throughout the album. I suspect these songs are best enjoyed individually, rather than all together, as then their true excellence will be appreciated. Overall, this was an enjoyable album, which has impressed me sufficiently that I intend to check them out when they next tour.
