Versatile combination of pop, soul and grunge on new free download single from rising Boston-based group, the Hush Now
Review
A story of being the one always left behind '”railing contrails,” this is best described as an eclectic offering.
The vocals from singer Noel Kelly coming after a few bars of rolling guitar are something of a shock, slightly nasal and younger sounding than expected. It immediately puts me in mind of 'Buddy Holly' by Weezer and just like that song it is hard to know which peg to hang it on. The multi tracking on the vocals lends an almost pop like quality while the drums are Motown-inspired and the guitar is grunge.
While it doesn't grab you by the collar and snog you senseless on a first listen, it is no hardship to listen too and has definite 'grower' potential.
This single can be downloaded for free from the bands website www.thehushnow.com.
