Attention-seeking, but riveting fuzz punk on new EP from fiery Nottingham-based band, Lovvers
Review
Come on Lovvers! Wake up and smell the synthesisers! Your 13-minute, seven-song blast of fuel injection fuzz punk might boast enough brio to kick-start even Gary Glitter’s career. But the fact is, to get any cool kid-credibility these days is to geek out big time on electronica – ask MIA and Hot Chip, if they’re not too busy picking up end-of-year awards, that is.
Oh forget it. Yes, this could have been made any time in during that 30-year distortion pedal window between new wave and Busted. And yes we should really be bigging up stuff by Hercules & Love Affair. But we like the way you curdle up surfy Dick Dale guitars with snotty kid, someone-call-Supernanny shouty vocals and trebly, early Damned production. And we like your attention seeking attitude.
You got what you wanted. You’re recommended
