Mr Hudson and the Library - Bread and Roses EP

Label: Genepool
Format: CDS
Undemanding hip hop from new British group Mr Hudson and the Library, outclassed by its impressive B sides

Review

Mr Hudson is apparently a white singjay. Whereas the press pack that accompanies this CD tries to entangle us into make believing that Mr Hudson's attitude to hip-hop is something positively new, the title track plus the following track, 'Brave the Cold' introduce only a few surprises but wait; what turns the concept upside down is the third track, 'Everything Happens to Me'. and the fourth track, a remix of 'Bread and Roses'. They are B-Side tracks of a very different nature. The true treat on this EP is DJ Wonder's mix of the lead track. DJ Wonder has stretched the beats - slow they already were, and he has churned out this subdued pumper of a hip-pop tune.

Track Listing:-

Mr Hudson and the Library - Joiners Arms, Southampton, 16/2/2007
Only able because of a delay in their start time to catch fifteen minutes of their performance at the Joiners Arms in Southampton, Paul Raven nevertheless sees much to commend in new act Mr Hudson and the Library's catchy indie pop sound

A Tale of Two Cities (2007)
Outstanding debut album from rising and offbeat new group Mr Hudson and the Library which takes 1940's influences and gives them a unique contemporary twist
