Victorian English Gentlemens Club - The Double A Side

Label: Select Label
Format: CDS
Chaotically brilliant second single from highly touted Cardiff-based trio, the Victorian English Gentlemens' Club

Review

It appears that more of the same from Cardiff’s tumultuous trio, the Victorian English Gentlemens' Club, has been delivered right to Pennyblackmusic’s doorstep. This double A side is but further evidence of the Victorian English Gentlemens Clubs' inevitable surge to prominence. ‘Amateur Man’ is a jabbering, mutilated drunkard of a song, skitting its way between stop start rhythms, inexorable hand clapping and a total disregard for its own safety. ‘Ban the Gin’ compliments the rabid warblings of ‘Amateur Man’ beautifully; being that it is the soundtrack for a Hunter S. Thompson night out, presumably the one where he meets the characters from 'Funny Bones' and takes them to a bar that only serves moloko with knives in. Best of all, this electro shock treatment to Britain’s increasingly self obsessed alternative scene come in at well under five minutes. Their debut album in May is going to be the flash mob assault our music desperately needs.

Track Listing:-
