New single from West Country garage blues band the Archie Bronson Outfit, which finds its dull A side far outclassed by its two B sides
Review
Conventional record company wisdom dictates that when releasing a single you put the best song out as the lead track and then (usually) fill the rest up with any old tosh lying around the cutting room floor. Not so the West Country trio of the Archie Bronson Outfit that bash out rudimentary garage blues. In fact, 'Dart for my Sweet Heart' is the weakest of the three tracks here and, ultimately, rather dull.
Much more appealing is 'In the Shadow of Love', a slow, almost mournful meander featuring the Duke Spirit singer Liela Moss.
Even better still is 'Fire Horse', a blistering three-minute stomp that mixes up Spacemen 3, Captain Beefheart and a dash of the Smashing Pumpkins as if Armageddon was fast approaching.
