Tiresome,second-rate indie guitar rock on new single from Yeti, the side project of Libertines bassist John Hassall
Review
Libertines’ bassist John Hassall’s side project Yeti is a tiresome, second rate affair and believe it or not, this single sounds remarkably like the media darlings/demons from whence the shambles came.
Amateurish, straight forward 60s pop drumming is accompanied by aggravating indie-schmindie-jingle-jangle that wwasunsuitable even for the Bluetones at their lowest ebb. Imagine this cacophony of ‘bohemian’ London (provided you are rich enough to be able to drop out of course) and implant a pretty boy from a good home with the vocal rasp of a thousand mis-smoked Marlboro Lights and you have Yeti.
Oh, but it’s so catchy, and don’t you just love those Converse/cheek bone combos? Go back to finishing school, little ones ! Kate Moss is on the phone and your look is so in right now.
