Art Brut - Formed A Band

Label: Rough Trade
Format: CDS
Excellent lo-fi 70's style punk from new band, Art Brut

Review

This is a former NME single of the week, but don't let that put you off. Despite that it captures the feeling of being a street punk rocker in the year 2004 perfectly. 'Formed a Band' sounds like Joy Division's 'Love Will Tear Us Apart' and 'Bad Weekend' sounds something like Electric 6's 'Gay Bar.' Both are lo-fi, i.e recorded with no budget at all. Shouted vocals feature over loud punky guitars, bass and drums. The lyrics scream with discontentment at living in this plastic age. It is short and to the point and very 1977. Joe Strummer would be pleased.

Track Listing:-

1 Formed A Band
2 Bad Weekend
