UThe Human League formed in 1977, and since 1980 have been based around the central trio of vocalist and songwriter Phil Oakey and female singers Joanne Catherall and Susan Ann Sulley.
The UK's leading electro pop act, the Human League are best known for their 1981 third album 'Dare', which contained four hit singles, including 'Love Action', 'Open Your Heart' and the UK/US number one hit 'Don't You Want Me'.
The group went on to have a string of other hits throughout the 1980s and early 1990s including 'Mirror Man', 'Fascination', 'The Lebanon', 'Human' (and 'Tell Me When', and have to date released nine studio albums.
The Human League toured in December to promote a new double CD, 'Anthology - A Very British Synthesizer Group'. These photographs were taken by Darren Aston exclusively for Pennyblackmusic at a show on the 14th December at the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall.
