Wussy - Forever Sounds

Label: Damnably
Format: CD
Cincinnati rock outfit Wussy's sixth LP blends indie rock with touches of Britpop

Review

Brash American sonics ring (back) memories of the Jesus And Mary Chain and find their ease on this occasionally smashing set of melodic drone tunes. Chuck Cleaver and Lisa Walker's angelic vocals appear over catchy riffs, while there is plenty of musical experimenting going on in the background. While Wussy have the ability to write great songs, they appear somewhat shy of great things happening, possibly ahead for them. Unfinished symphonies of a certain fineness is their trademark. Wussy's style, which is passable in terms of importance and originality, nonetheless sticks out amongst the current crop. 'Better Days', which is perhaps the band's anthem, finds Wussy at the crossroads of elegance, indulging in blown out of proportion mayhem.
