Review

Air Formation's comeback EP arrives on limited-to-250 copies 12" only lovely coloured orange vinyl from those lovely people at ClubAC30. Air Formation split in 2011 after eleven years together but reformed in 2014 to carry on from where they left off. 'I Could Stay' starts the first side. It is very loud and doomy with a bass that slaps the listener in the face from the offset. It has a harder edge than their Slowdive-influenced earlier work, and is somewhat Gothic in sound which reflects the direction the band were heading in before they split. 'Last Resolve' is sweeter and more dreamy, heavy on the keyboards while guitars trade off each other as if fighting for a deal on early 90's Creation Records. 'On the Floor' starts side two. It is much slower-paced and all the more commanding for it. Drums melt into keyboards while guitars sway elegantly. It is definitely a song to gaze to your shoes too. 'The Wasted Days' runs into the sunny Brighton Hills as if a wild dog is biting its heels This is a chaotic, wild and very beautiful return from the Brighton lads.
