Overblown and melodramatic third solo album from French chanteuse, Marianne Dissard
Review
French melodrama which could remind the cynics amongst us of one Jeanne Durand from a 'recent' episode of 'Absolutely Fabulous', though this album comes from a comfy rocking chair.
Undecided whether it should be a parody or a travesty, nonetheless it's a somewhat silly album, praising its own ignorance on 'Élection' before a clichéd solo and even handclapping kick in.
'Doll Circa' was the first track to strike a chord with me. Rolling the keys on the piano to orchestral proportions, and impersonating seagulls on the beach, Marianne Dissard does a successful take on sounding a bit like Kate Bush and PJ Harvey. Dazzling with dizziness, 'Le Chat Pas Moi', however, n'est pas mon choix.
