Feisty latest single from rising British singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Scarlette Fever
Review
Scarlette Fever has worked with Oliver Leiber and Tommy amd Davey Farragher. With co-writer, guitarist Chris Moorhead and keyboard player, Angie Pollock, this singer-songwriter's 'Single White Female' EP is a wonderful teaser for her next year's album 'Attack of the 6Ft Woman'.
'Sunday Best' appears as a "Radio Edit" as well as a toned-down version. Both are loaded with energy. As she conjures up curious word-pictures like, "I'm a freeze-dried butterfly," she creates a whirlwind of emotion Fever's convincing voice is a powerful instrument. The arrangements really bring out the best of her range and attitude.
'Looking Glass' (Live) begins with an inflammatory guitar riff, which shoves this "single-white female" into the spotlight. Her upper range soars here. This is a great blues-infused rocker, perfect to unveil her feisty approach.
'Single White Female' is exploratory and balanced with lots of rhythms and just the right touch of orchestration. "You can arrest her/But she'll break out of jail," pretty much sums up her survival instincts. "If you feel like getting dressed/Put on your Sunday best," she exclaims, but the story goes way beyond that simple suggestion.
Scarlette Fever is a rising star who recently sold out the Viper Room in Hollywood and has also toured the US. She has supported Mike & The Mechanics and has garnered tremendous support from BBC Radio. Be on the alert -- the temperatures's rising and Scarlette Fever's got her eye on the mercury.
