Gentle and sophisticated debut solo album from 6 Day Riot singer, Tamara Schlesinger
Review
Glasgow's Tamara Schlesinger moves on from the strumming campfire pop music of her band 6 Day Riot and becomes slightly more elaborate with her solo debut album.
The basic principle of 'The Procession' is a repetitive and sketchy vocal track that is richly decorated with the help from some of Scotland's finest musicians; Ross Hamilton, Toby Shippey, Dave McGowan, Fiona Johnson and Susan Appelbe.
As she crafts this new artistic style, Tamara Schlesinger brings in a couple of small jewels. 'Again' is composed around a little and addictive à capèlla line which naturally develops its own cinematic beauty. Her down-to-earth lyrics of meeting and parting work as a kind antidote to the sense of elevation and eclecticism. The subtle reverb on the closing 'Who's Won' brings a fitting end to this gentle album.
