Misleadingly-titled and surprisingly agreeable, yet flawed debut album from London-based electronic duo Gecko Chamber
Review
Available as a download for a few months already, this electronic music album gets a release on CD now.
Gecko Chamber are Coskun Akmeric and Cem Serter whose first two singles 'Boya Badana' and 'Locus of Control' are included on 'The Other Side of Sanity'. The title misleads the listener. This debut is smooth and agreeable and no work of the devil or a lunatic.
The first record I bought was 'Popcorn' in 1971 or so and Gecko Chamber produces the equal innocent simplicity of popcorn. Add the whoosh of TV puppets the Thunderbirds in playmobile, then add ground whack and you have a mildly exotic snack of sound. The torso of music doesn't move around a lot. It must be a robot. The orchestration for this electronic dance album is rather shy though of experiment and challenge.
I can't stop thinking Gecko Chamber would better perform on instruments. Consider these demos. Great tracks mediocrely produced.
