Horrors - Horrors

Darren Aston photographs controversial alternative act the Horrors at a gig which ended in violence at the Kazimier in Liverpool

Article

The Horrors have a reputation for controversy, and previous gigs have seen violence and front man Faris Badwan infamously once spray audience members with black paint. The group have just released their third album, ‘Skying’, and spent January touring to promote it. These photographs were taken a show at the Liverpool Kazimier on January 17th, and set out to capture some of the dark aura and malevolent stage presence of the Horrors. The gig later ended in trouble when Badwan “clipped round the ear” a difficult audience member who had antagonised him and several members of the crowd in blocking sight lines by waving a Horrors scarf around persistently in the air. The unfortunate fan was then set upon and beaten up by a small group of other fans before being ejected by bouncers from the venue.
