Pablo - The Story of Sampling

Label: Soma Records
Format: 12"
Sublime hip hop on laidback and majestic new single from Pablo, the moniker for Glasgow-based musician Michael Hunter

Review

Habit has it that a change in release policy within the music industry comes with the launch of a new label. Not so with this hip hop release on Soma, Scotland's premier house music label though. The obvious reference point in this case is Gang Starr, around their 'Step Into The Arena' period. Laidback and majestic hiphop brings a message on the rather sublime A-Side leads, while the somafied flipside features beefed up instrumental hiphop. 'The Story of Sampling' is not just the odd one out in terms of hip hop. The track itself tells a story. This release proves to be a genuine one.

Track Listing:-
