Thomas Truax - Songs from the Films of David Lynch

Label: SL Records
Format: CD
Excellent fourth album from American-born, but London-based musician Thomas Truax, who has taken several of the songs from the soundtracks to David Lynch films and reworked them in stunningly original fashion

Review

The Thomas Truax album came in the mail as a gentle reminder of film evenings gone past. Hypnotizing melodies used in the eccentric movies are covered by Truax in a fashion that even pleased friends of mine who were not supposed to be interested in the first place. Film buffs ought to track this down. Mr Truax has done a really good job. You will find half a dozen of the tunes rendered in a style that occasionally defies the originals. Truax doesn't try to copy. The strength of this cover album lies in its simple orchestration and straightfoward rendition, and in the sequence of course. The concept worked. This is excellent fake americana.
