Black Dog - Vexing EP

Label: Soma Records
Format: 12"
Excellent new twelve inch vinyl single from Sheffield-based techno act the Black Dog, which preceeds their forthcoming new album, 'Further Vexations'

Review

The Black Dog have their new 'Further Vexations' album coming out soon. The 'Vexing' EP preceeds its with two album track mixes and a non-album track 'Plinth' and once again confirm their hero status. Appropiately enough, the Berlin Mix of '0093' from the forthcoming album works like a typical night time S-Bahn ride. Distant urban echoes and crispy hypnotic beats set the tone for this warm little beauty. Smothering threats follow on the BCN mix for 'You're Only SQL' and test both your connection and of course your loudspeakers. Towards the end, the orchestration of these techno bumps and glitches results in one fine big splash. The cathedral setting for the exclusive album track 'Plinth' immediately stands out and the intrinsic sounds appear quite alien from the dance esthetics.

Track Listing:-

1 0093
2 You're Only SQL (BCN Mix)
3 Plinth
