Anthemic sounding new EP from Brighton-based indie guitar band Friday Night Hero, whose rise to bigger and better things seems inevitable
Review
If songs were rocket fuel, this trio from Friday Night Hero, ‘Faster’, ‘Brothers’ and ‘Our Time’, would have no problem propelling them to a summer festival stage near you.
The band’s big sound is a textbook lesson in everything you need to chime with audiences stretching miles back in the great outdoors, but achieved without sacrificing an accessible melodic core. There’s something of the Editors in the epic sound of ‘Faster’, while ‘Brothers’ works a Snow Patrol slowburn to a T. ‘Our Time’, meanwhile, combines Bloc Party’s juddering rhythms with the synthy new wave of Boy Kill Boy.
With national radio already sitting up and taking notice, it shouldn’t take more then a nudge or two from the overlords of evening radio to nudge them up to the inevitable bigger and better things.
