Classy new album from Joe Cocker, consisting mainly of covers of songs from song writers such as George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Stevie Wonder and John Fogerty
Review
‘Hymn for My Soul’ is the classy new album of Joe Cocker. It features 10 new songs, most of which are covers, and are sung by Joe in that raspy vocal style which has been familiar to music fans since he covered the Beatles’ ‘With a Little Help from My Friends’ back in 1968.
On this album are songs by George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Stevie Wonder and John Fogerty. All are delivered in a FM radio-friendly style that are easy on the ears.
Along for the ride on this project are the legendary Jim Keltner, who has played drums for every Beatles member in their solo career except for Paul McCartney, and Mike Finnigan, who played organ on Hendrix’s ‘Electric Ladyland’ .
