Excellent value for money double CD from Ramones drummer Marky Ramone, which compiles tofether nearly all his work with his late 90's band the Intruders, and also some of the Ramones' best known songs recorded live on tour in Mexico in 2005

'Start of the Century' is a two set CD anthology from Ramones drummer Marky Ramone, which compiles together on one CD both the albums he did with his last 90's band the Intruders, and then on the other some live versions recorded in Mexico in 2005 of of some of the best known tracks he played orignally with the Ramones including 'Sheena is a Punk Rocker', 'Rockaway Beach' and 'Rock 'n Roll High School'
The title of the album is a play on words as the Ramones 1980 fifth album was called 'End of the Century'.
Some might say this album is one for the fans which no doubt to some extent is true, but the fact that the first CD features 29 tracks and contains practically everything Marky Ramone and the Intruders did, and the second disc, which was recorded over three shows, has another 18 tracks, makes this excepetionally good value for money. You're definitely not short changed on this little beauty.
The second CD, which features Marky Ramone [drums], David Brooks [vocals], CJ Gunya [guitar] and Aaron Dowell [bass], is a really touching tribute to a band that will be remembered by a generation. As the Beach Boys are remembered for surf music, the Ramones will be remembered as being the innovators of surf punk.
The Ramones are gone ! Long live the Ramones!!
