Franz Ferdinand - Franz Ferdinand

Label: Domino Records
Format: CD
Excellent debut album from the much acclaimed Franz Ferdinand, which more than lives up to the hype

Review

Franz Ferdinand are the most important new indie band to come out of the UK for some time. They are also the most important NME band since the Strokes, and it is easy to see why. The vocals are clever, clear and up front, so much so that they don't speak a foreign language here. The hooks and licks are to die for. The tunes are catchy and cool. Musically it is reminiscent of very late 70's new wave and art house rock. The bands it mostly reminds me of are the Teardrop Explodes and Television. I was prepared to be disappointed, but this is too clever by far. They are the coolest of the new boys in town. Good luck to them, not that they are really going to need it. Buy this !
