This was not what I was expecting at all! From something I’d read and taking the name Hayleys Cake, I was expecting something lo-fi on Invicta Hi-Fi!! What we have though is a jazzy, funky beast of a single that wouldn’t sound out of place next to Travis in the big boy’s chart. The Ladytron remix takes the groove out of it and replaces it with techno beats which doesn’t do it for me but ‘Dayz’ shows just as much ambition as the A-side. This sounds so slick and accomplished that it wouldn’t surprise me if they were snapped up by a major before too long.
