Four years in the development, following a series of stand-alone singles and EPs and a performance at Glastonbury alongside Shygirl, London singer-songwriter Rose Gray, 28, has released her debut album. ‘Louder Please’ is a mix of exuberant club-ready songs, blending nostalgia with a contemporary sound. Co-written with an array of producers and contributors including Justin Tranter, Alex Metric, Sega Bodega, and Uffie, the album is eclectic, spanning a range of influences including Robyn, Kylie Minogue and Madonna, a blend of gritty electronic dance music and catchy pop. As described by Gray: “…'Louder Please' captures the rave, the ethereal, my friends and our stories: it’s classic pop with its roots firmly in the underground. On a beach or in a club, I want these songs to find their homes in someone else’s life.” Songs to listen out for in this twelve-track collection include: the pulsating opener, in-your-face ’Damn’ with its hypnotic vocals; lead single, euphoric dance track ‘Free’; club song ‘Wet & Wild’ with its swirling chorus; ‘Just Two’, highlighting Gray’s melodic vocals; dreamy, romantic ballad ‘Tectonic’; anthemic ‘Party People’; catchy ‘Angel Of Satisfaction’ on the double-edgedness of fame; confessional, spoken-word ‘Hackney Wick’ , with its propelling beat and backdrop of soaring strings, capturing the energy of nights out remembered; and the closer, the meditative, experimental title track. With reflective lyrics and a creative use of sound, ‘Louder Please’ is an assured debut.
