Imaginative third of four planned solo albums inspired by the elements from Bloc Party frontman Kele Okereke
Review
Liverpool-born, London-raised singer Kele Okereke, 43, is taking a break from indie-rock band Bloc Party to adopt an imaginative approach on the third of four solo albums inspired by fire, water, earth and air.
‘The Singing Winds Pt. 3; sees Okereke at his inventive best, producing every sound on the album on his guitar aided by a few special effects.
On ‘It Wasn't Meant To Be’ he is philosophical about an ex-lover and on ‘Hometown Edge’ he revives the famous “Terry meets Julie” line from The Kinks' ‘Waterloo Sunset’.
Disappointingly for some, ‘The Legend Of Archie And Lilibet’ is an instrumental and not a ballad about the offspring of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle!
‘The Singing Winds Pt. 3’ is another fine album from Okereke - underlining just how strong his credentials are as a talented writer, singer and instrumentalist!
